Tifton Sweetheart, Anna Kate Sumler

At Peach State Pride, one of the things we enjoy most is connecting with the people that love our products and getting to hear their stories. We hope to use our blog as a platform to share the journeys and experiences of different Georgia Peaches and their love for our state.

We are excited to introduce you to Tifton native and Georgia College graduate Miss Anna Kate Sumler!

Anna Kate at her elementary school in Tifton where her mom taught for 20 years.

We got the opportunity to sit down with Anna Kate and ask her some questions!

PSP: When & where were you born?
Anna Kate: I was born on Easter Sunday, believe it or not! March 26, 1989 at Tift General Hospital, to be exact. My Mom said they left church and went to my Granny’s for Easter “dinner” (what they call lunch in the Deep South) and straight from there to the hospital. Now I’ll always be the family’s little Easter bunny. Even though my birthday won’t actually be on the holiday again until I’m 70-something years old, it still feels like my birthday every year on Easter Sunday. I was born and raised in small town, South Georgia – Tifton. Fun fact: Tifton is known as the “Friendly City,” and even the town website says it truly exemplifies southern hospitality. I have lived in the same house my entire life and wouldn’t have it any other way.

PSP: Where did you go to college & why did you choose that school?
Anna Kate: Georgia College in Milledgeville, GA. Have you ever seen the campus? That’s all it takes – one look, one visit. I was sold! It was just the right size for me to still feel that “personal connection” on campus and in the community.

PSP: What are you doing with your life now?
Anna Kate: I graduated from Georgia College & State University in 2011 with a degree in Early Childhood Education and then decided to do something completely unrelated to my major!  I began working for my sorority’s (Alpha Delta Pi) headquarters as a Leadership Consultant and have recently taken on the position of Senior Leadership Consultant as I begin my second year with them.

2011 - 2012 Alpha Delta Pi Leadership Consultants

PSP: What do you like to do for fun?
Anna Kate: I love to read whenever I have downtime and try new things as often as possible. Pinterest is making my mind spin with DIY projects I want to tackle!
*Check out Anna Kate's blog for some of her cute DIY projects!

PSP: What would be your dream date anywhere in Georgia? Gentlemen, take note!
Anna Kate: A date that requires some thought – one where you’re actually doing something, not just dinner and a movie. I would want my date to have it all planned out and really surprise me. There’s too many options in Georgia not to think of something creative, right?!

PSP: Favorite restaurant in Georgia?
Anna Kate: That’s such a hard one! The first one that comes to mind is Mary Mac’s Tea Room in Atlanta because that is truly some heavy, fried country eating.

PSP: What's your order at Chickfila?
Anna Kate: Chicken nuggets + waffle fries and honey mustard. It’s always a toss-up between sweet tea and lemonade!

PSP: Last movie you watched?
Anna Kate: This Means War – highly recommend! Reese Witherspoon is so great.

PSP: Can you pick a favorite place in Georgia?
Anna Kate: My heart is torn between Tifton and Milledgeville – I consider both home!

Anna Kate at the Georgia Pecan Growers Association. Her aunt is the Executive Director at the GPGA and she works there when she is not traveling for her Leadership Consultant job.

We were very thankful for the opportunity to spend time with Anna Kate and learn about her Georgia roots! Hopefully you enjoyed her insight into the life of a southern sweetheart that grew up to be a professional sorority girl. Thank you for bringing so much joy to us Anna Kate. Hopefully our readers have been infected with your smile just like we have!

Anna Kate Sumler, the perfect example of staying southern.
